MEXICO MISSION

This July, Mission Youth Detroit heads to Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The 8-day trip makes a huge difference in the lives of the local villagers as our missionaries build a house for a family, with the family, from foundation to rooftop. It's one more step in Mission Youth's ongoing development project for the region - 13 homes and counting. Missionaries spend their mornings at the construction site and organize a summer camp for village children in the afternoon. The last day is a visit to the Aztec pyramids at Teotihuacan and the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This mission site currently has the highest possible safety rating by the US State Department.

MISSION TRAINING

​Each Mexico mission includes a mandatory training course. Topics include a crash course on Mexican history and customs, as well as spiritual and human resources for missionary work. Before leaving for Puebla, ​each missionary must attend the Mexico Missionary Training session.

House Construction Project
Ahuazotepec, Puebla - ​july 15-22

Ages: 16+ coed
Cost: $795 total ($50 application fee + $745 cost)
Construction Project Cost: $6000 (included in mission fee)
Length of Mission: 8 days
Lodging: Austere. Local auditorium in La Cima, Ahuazotepec, Puebla. Missionaries should bring warm clothes, sleeping bags and camping or yoga matts.
