Guatemala Mission

"My favorite thing on a mission is being able to spread my love to people around this world because so many are neglected of the love they deserve, as well as many other necessities. I love to see the happiness and gratefulness in their faces which makes me grateful for having the opportunity to be a small part of their lives. I am excited for my many more adventures with Mission Youth Detroit." - Chloe

"Having been on several mission trips before, I’ve gone into it with the same mentality every time. You tell yourself that I am “going to make a difference in other people’s lives” and that I am “going to help others in need”. What people sometimes forget is how a missionary can come back changed as well; at least this was the case for me. This past year was my first oversees mission trip with Mission Youth, and although it sounds cliché, it truly was a life-changing experience. I was in a group with five or six others and our job was to help build a sidewalk for the new church that will be built in the coming years. Coming into this trip, I expected to share the love of Christ with the locals through my words and spirit. I never expected that mixing and pouring cement for a week would open my eyes to the heart of Jesus more than anything else. To be completely honest, it did not always feel like direct Christian work, however, looking back I know that it surely was. Through prayers and encouragement, I was able to see how God was not only changing the people of Guatemala, but that He was also hard at work on changing me. Through this mission, God opened my eyes to new realms of possibilities. I will be forever appreciative of my experience in this beautiful country." - Jesse
